Rocky Johnson vs. The Rock
Before the commenter’s start gnashing their teeth: Yes, we all know that the Rock is a third generation wrestler, as his grandfather was “High Chief” Peter Maivia. But as we’re comparing fathers to sons (and daughters) here, and Maivia was actually the Great Ones maternal grandfather, he doesn’t get included in this comparison. Arbitrary? Maybe, but it’s our list, so pipe down.
Rocky Johnson was a charismatic performer who earned his spot in the history books by way of becoming the first black World Tag Team Champions in WWE (then WWF, natch), alongside Tony Atlas. That’s small potatoes compared to the success his son found, however, as the Rock became one of the biggest, most popular and most consistent wrestlers of his era, able to refer to himself as the Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment without a hint of hyperbole or irony.
